Banana Wars will stimulate many questions about the ways that colonial continuities and new features of international relationships intertwine to constitute the new global economy, especially from the perspective of small developing countries. Certainly, it will prompt renewed concerns about these states’ prospects for economic development, the implications for social vulnerability, and the corresponding potential for socially disruptive behavior by the economically disenfranchised and the socially excluded.
